All new staff arriving to the Mission is required to undergo induction training when they are briefed about sexual exploitation and abuse awareness and prevention. All individual police officers and formed police unit (FPU) cadres without exception have been sensitized about the issue. In order to keep the knowledge fresh and remind all police personnel of their duties, the Police Commissioner, with CDT support has conducted more than 50 awareness sessions in Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haitien, Fort-Liberté, Jérémie, Jacmel, Miragoane, Les Cayes, Hinche, Gonaïves and Port-de-Paix.
Following the relocation of all units, all police officers serving at Delta Camp also attended awareness sessions. By the end of 2017, the vast majority of the staff had been sensitized about sexual exploitation and abuse. Outreach efforts continue in 2018 for all Police personnel.
The most recent training was held from 17 to 19 March 2018 at Delta Camp, when 12 police officers were trained as trainers. They will, in turn, train other police officers on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and will become focal points within the police forces. In order to strengthen measures for prevention, all police personnel must carry the "NO EXCUSE" card containing key information on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.
