UNIFIL Sector East troops train with LAF on first aid and trauma management

Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) soldiers and UNIFIL peacekeepers trained together for three days on first aid and trauma management last week in the UN Mission’s Sector East Headquarters in Ibl el-Saqi, south-eastern Lebanon.

A total of 11 soldiers from Lebanese army stationed in a LAF brigade in nearby Marjayoun and 20 peacekeepers from various UNIFIL Sector East units learned the skills during the coordinated training, conducted from 17 to 19 August.

Doctors from UNIFIL’s Spanish Contingent delivered the training, during which all the COVID-19 related precautionary measures were strictly followed.

Extending assistance to the LAF is a core component of UNIFIL’s mandate in accordance with Security Council resolution 1701.
