Top contents of the month of Octobre 2025

October 2025 highlighted MONUSCO's concrete commitment in the DRC. The Force intervened in Ituri against CODECO militiamen, trained 120 FARDC soldiers, and inaugurated rapid-impact projects for more than 100,000 people. This effort for protection and development was accompanied by the celebration of UN Day and the 25th anniversary of Resolution 1325, reaffirming the role of women in peace.

On October 14, MONUSCO forces intervened in Djugu, Ituri, to repel simultaneous attacks by CODECO militiamen against displaced persons and farmers in Ndachulu, Maze, and Largu. The peacekeepers opened fire, saving thousands of lives and securing humanitarian vehicles.

The MONUSCO Force trained 120 FARDC soldiers in Bunia for two weeks on crucial skills: telecommunications, drones, first aid, and heavy weapons handling. This initiative aims to strengthen the operational effectiveness of Congolese troops against armed groups in Ituri and to consolidate peace by building local capacity.

MONUSCO and civil society held a strategic workshop in Goma to intensify the fight against the recruitment and use of children in eastern DRC. In response to escalating violence and rights violations, this crucial meeting aims to strengthen local capacities and prepare for the post-MONUSCO transition.

MONUSCO has delivered several quick-impact projects in Mahagi and Djugu, strengthening security, social cohesion, and economic exchanges. These initiatives include the rehabilitation of agricultural roads and the installation of solar streetlights, improving mobility and reducing nighttime crime. A strategic bridge even connects communities that were once in conflict.

The United Nations Police (UNPOL) and the Congolese National Police (PNC) conducted a clean-up operation in Kinshasa to promote civic responsibility and community policing. This initiative illustrates their partnership in serving the people.

MONUSCO repatriated 61 individuals (former FDLR combatants and their families) to Rwanda between January and October 2025. These former combatants testify to the suffering they endured and express their relief after receiving a dignified welcome and logistical support from the Mission.
