On December 12, 2023, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK, Ms. Caroline Ziadeh, hosted ten civil society representatives at UNMIK Office in Pristina. The gathering is a continuation of an ongoing dialogue and reinforces the existing collaboration.
During the meeting, the representatives provided an overview of their current activities in Kosovo, shedding light on the challenges faced by the vulnerable populations they serve. Emphasis was placed on issues such as gender-based violence, access to holistic services, and women's economic empowerment. The discussions focused on actions for prevention, integration, rehabilitation, and the long-term sustainability of programs addressing these concerns.
In response, SRSG Ziadeh expressed gratitude to the representatives for their cooperation, contributions, and engaging conversations. She reiterated UNMIK's commitment to providing a safe space for dialogue, aiming to identify common problems and agree upon collective solutions. The discussions outlined a clear path forward, emphasizing UNMIK's dedication to proactive and comprehensive initiatives that will have a lasting impact.
SRSG Ziadeh also sought participants' feedback on the Trust-building Forum hosted by UNMIK in Thessaloniki last month and on the ongoing campaigns UNMIK has supported in Kosovo. This dialogue highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts and underlined the potential for sustained impact when diverse voices unite for a common cause.
