Post-election education for village leaders in Obo

Following workshops conducted with political parties, southern Sudanese refugees as well as community, women and youth leaders, the electoral team in Obo hosted, on 28 January 2021, yet another workshop on the acceptance of voting results and resolving electoral disputes with 18 neighbourhood and village leaders at the OBO Voluntary Testing Center.

Organized as part of the post-election awareness and education campaign and facilitated by the MINUSCA Regional Electoral Office, Civil Affairs, Strategic Information and Public Information (SCPI) sections and UNPOL, among others, the workshop provided a forum for participants to discuss the conduct of elections – in order to promote the peace process in the Haut Mbomou prefecture.

Joseph Désiré Pabeyo, the chief of Obo’s Sikotara neighborhood, who took part in the workshop, noted: “Elections are like a soccer match – there is a winning team, and the best man wins.”
