Each year, on 21 September, the world marks the International Day of Peace, a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
On this occasion UNIFIL’s Radio programme “Salam from the South” asked people around south Lebanon what they think about peace, and how it can be achieved.
Here’s what some of them had to say:
“Peace is accomplished through ethics that people have, through kindness in dealing with others.”
“Who does not wish that peace will prevail, and it can be accomplished through mutual honesty.”
“That there are no wars in the world.”
“That neighbors love each other, brothers love each other.”
“Peace means life to mankind.”
Listen to this special episode to see how the people of South Lebanon see their future and what they think is necessary to achieve peace in their country and around the world.
