MAJGEN Cheryl Pearce graduated from the Army Officer Cadet School in 1985 and commissioned into the Royal Australian Corps of Military Police. MAJGEN Pearce has held numerous staff appointments across Headquarters 1st Division, Army Headquarters, the Australian Defence College, Joint Capabilities and Special Operations and command appointments in the Defence Police Training Centre and 1st Military Police Battalion where she was recognized for her exceptional service and appointed as a member of the Order of Australia. In 2017 MAJGEN Pearce was appointed as Commandant of the Australian Defence Force Academy.

MAJGEN Pearce’s operational experience include serving in East Timor with the United Nations (2002) and as the Commander Task Group Afghanistan (2016). MAJGEN Pearce was appointed as Force Commander of the United Nations Forces in CYPRUS from 2019-2019 and Deputy Commissioner Australian Border Force from 2022-2023. MAJGEN Pearce held the appointment of the Deputy Chief of Army of the Australian Defence Force from June 2023 to January 2024, before assuming her appointment as the United Nations Deputy Military Adviser in the Office of Military Affairs on 11 March 2024.

MAJGEN Pearce holds post graduate qualifications in Management in Defence Studies, and Intelligence, Policing and Counter Terrorism.
