MINURSO PEACEKEEPERS: NATIONAL DAY OF CÔTE D'IVOIRE

On 7 August, MINURSO celebrated Côte d'Ivoire’s National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune next to the UN flag. On this day, Côte d’Ivoire obtained its independence from France in 1960. Côte d’Ivoire is a contributor of uniformed personnel to UN peacekeeping worldwide, including to MINURSO.

Côte d'Ivoire’s flag consists of three vertical stripes: orange, white and green. The orange stands for the earth and savannahs of the country, the white represents hope in union and in peace, and the green stands for the forest of the South, nature, and a better future.
