Elsie Project Team in Kaga Bandoro, MINUSCA
The Elsie Initiative project by the UN Office of Supply Chain Management aims to improve camp layouts, accommodations, bathrooms, recreational facilities etc. to enhance women’s participation and retention in field missions, and to improve overall safety & security of staff.
On International Day of UN Peacekeepers on May 29, the Elsie project unit offered a short presentation to UNGSC Brindisi & Valencia on how improving camp facilities and infrastructure is helping to increase recruitment and retention of women, and thus reduce the gender gap.
The Elsie project unit has visited MINURSO in June-July 2019. The purpose of the visit was to gather detailed information and comments, meet with all key stakeholders, and conduct outreach sessions with field mission staff.
