UNIFIL’s Sector West Headquarters and the Italian Contingent organized an “entertainment day” for about 100 Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) martyrs’ children on 8 July.
UNIFIL Sector West Commander Brigadier General Francesco Olla welcomed the children and, in his remarks, stressed the close relationship that UNIFIL has built with the local community, the Lebanese Armed Forces and other security services.
"We are grateful to the authorities and the local associations for the passion they show us through this type of activity. We offer our utmost contribution in terms of operational and social activities to ensure that security and stability are maintained in full cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces,” he said. “The human element is crucial to the success of our mission and this cultural exchange enriches us and encourages us to give more and more."
The visit, organized in cooperation with the Association of the Martyr Lieutenant Colonel Sobhi Al Akoury, included educational activities as well as numerous sports activities.
