UN General highlights the role of UNMOGIP to his audience on Medal Parade Day

On the occasion of medal parade day, Maj General Jose Eladio Alcain informed the audience, including Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic community, military officials, United Nations Military Observers (UNMO) and medal recipients that mission has  an impact in its quest for peace through the fulfilment of its mandate.

Our team of observers working in our field stations continue to implement with the mandate, which focused on observing and reporting on events along

the Line of Control and Working Boundary.   

Every six months this ceremony commemorates and highlights the efforts the united nations military observers make in the conduct of the fulfillment of the mission’s mandate. 

The General during the ceremony expressed his gratitude to all troop contributing countries (TCCs) who support the Mission in the fulfillment of its mandate. He noted that UNMOGIP would benefit from more female United Nations Military Observers who play a great role to reaching out to a large section of the community where the mission operates especially women and children.  

The General said, “we will continue working together with the troop contributing countries (TCCs) to fulfill the purpose for which UNMOGIP was established”.

“But, never will we forget those that have fallen in the service of peace in UNMOGIP, civilian and cilitary “the General added.  Earlier, a wreath had been laid in memory of those fallen.

 The General extended his appreciation and thanks to all the distinguished guests who joined the celebration.
