UNITED NATIONS ANGOLA VERIFICATION MISSION I
UNAVEM I (December 1988 - May 1991)

UNAVEM I was established in December 1988 to verify the phased and total withdrawal of Cuban troops from the territory of Angola. The withdrawal was completed by 25 May 1991. On 6 June, the Secretary-General reported to the Security Council that UNAVEM I had carried out, fully and effectively, the mandate entrusted to it
