CABINET DISCUSSES BUDGET, VEHICLE REGISTRATION

The East Timor Transitional Cabinet today approved a proposed budget for the current fiscal year to be presented to the National Council. The proposal seeks to re-prioritize budgetary allocations to meet new spending proposals. A list of priorities for possible bilateral funding was also endorsed.

In addition, the Cabinet endorsed the establishment of a Motor Vehicle Office and the modalities of a vehicle registration process. The objective of the proposal is to improve the management of traffic and, therefore, public safety. A draft regulation on Vehicle Registration will be forwarded to the National Council for approval.
