By which the Council, inter alia, decided to extend the mandate of MINURCA until 25 October 1998; and called upon the authorities of the Central African Republic to adopt rapidly an operational plan for the organization of the legislative elections

By which the Council, inter alia, welcomed the announcement by the authorities in the Central African Republic to hold legislative elections on 22 November and 13 December 1998; decided that the mandate of MINURCA shall include support for the conduct of legislative elections; and extended the mandate of MINURCA until 28 February 1999

By which the Council, inter alia, called upon the Government of the Central African Republic to continue to take concrete steps to implement political, economic, social and security reforms, and to fulfil its commitments; and recalled that the success, the future mandate and the ongoing presence of MINURCA were closely linked to the fulfilment of these commitments

By which the Council, inter alia, decided to extend the mandate of MINURCA until 15 November 1999; authorized MINURCA to play a supportive role in the conduct of the presidential elections; and further authorized MINURCA to supervise the destruction of confiscated weapons and ammunition under its control

By which the Council, inter alia, noted with satisfaction the successful conclusion of the presidential elections held on 19 September 1999; and decided to extend the mandate of MINURCA until 15 February 2000 with a view to ensuring a short and gradual transition from United Nations peacekeeping involvement in the Central African Republic to a post-conflict peace-building presence

Statement by the President (S/PRST/2000/5)

By which the Council, inter alia, commended MINURCA and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the contribution they had made to the restoration of peace and security in the Central African; recognized the significant progress made by the Government of the Central African Republic in implementing the peace agreements; and welcomed the decision by the Secretary-General to establish the United Nations Peace-building Support Office in the Central African Republic (BONUCA)
