BUSINESS SURVEY UNDERWAY

The East Timor Transitional Administration’s Division of Commerce, Industry and Tourism will conduct a month-long national survey to identify which of East Timor’s 4,160 registered companies are operational. The authority is also investigating which companies already in operation have not registered. These companies will be required to register immediately. The survey will start early next month. A report by the Division’s Business Facilitation Unit in January, in which 668 companies in Dili district were surveyed, showed that 20 companies, both international and national, were operating without having registered. The companies were given two weeks to register and all of them complied.
