On 9 April 2019, UNAMID peacekeepers provided escort services to a joint World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) needs assessment mission to Keiling village located 7 kilometers south of the Mission’s Temporary Operating Base (TOB) in Golo, Central Darfur. The UN Agencies were accompanied by government representatives and a UNAMID Golo TOB Integrated patrol team.

In their interaction with the joint assessment mission, representatives of the local community raised concerns related to shortage of water, lack of schools in the neighborhood, the rough condition of the Golo-Keiling road and lack of seedlings that are critical to having a productive agricultural season.

Providing escort and convoy support to humanitarian agencies is part of UNAMID’s core mandate of facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance and ensuring the safety of humanitarian personnel in the Mission’s Area of Responsibility.
