UNAMID organizes third job fair for its national staff

On 6 December 2017, the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) held the third Job Fair for its Sudanese staff. The day-long event aimed at enabling staff members to explore job opportunities and meet potential employers, in the wake of the ongoing reconfiguration process. The Fair, which was held under the theme “Uniting Talent with Opportunities,” took place at the Mission’s Headquarters in El Fasher, North Darfur.

Some eight job providers, including Sudanese companies, organizations and industries as well as international companies and UN agencies, participated in the event.

Welcoming the participants, David John, Head, Movement Control Section, expressed his appreciation to the entities that took part in the Job Fair. He emphasised UNAMID’s commitment and dedication to ensure that national staff capacity is being built and their career development is being given due importance.

“This job fair is an opportunity that opens the door for our talented staff to have the best possible employment avenues as most of our colleagues represent the future of Darfur and Sudan as a whole,” said Mr. John. “Our Sudanese colleagues constitute a unique pool of highly-skilled professionals who have served selflessly in this Mission for many years. They are culturally diverse manpower and will be an asset to many different organizations and businesses,” he added.

On her part, Amira Timan, Chair, UNAMID National Staff Association, also urged the national staff, particularly those who are might be affected by the ongoing reconfiguration, to make use of this opportunity.

The Mission’s first and second job fairs were held on 4 March and 14 December 2015 respectively.
