Let me take this occasion, which marks the end of the calendar year and a holiday season celebrated by many (as well as my own first anniversary with MINURSO), to thank everyone associated with MINURSO for their hard work, dedication and commitment to implementing the mandate of this important mission. It has been a busy but rewarding year for MINURSO, culminating in the successful meeting between the parties in Geneva earlier this month, and a general calm in the Territory. I have seen first-hand how the daily work of each one of you has contributed to preventing conflict in the Territory by addressing and resolving allegations or violations and thus reducing tensions.
I wish everyone a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year. I hope everyone can enjoy meaningful interactions with their families and loved ones during this period. I look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
