The United Nations has announced that Police First Sergeant Renita Rismayanti, of Indonesia, will receive the 2023 United Nations Woman Police Officer of the Year Award on 16 November 2023.  The award will be presented during the annual United Nations Police Week, taking place at United Nations Headquarters from 13 to 17 November.

Following is the text of UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ video message for the Paris Peace Forum, “Seeking common ground in a world of rivalry”, in Paris today: I am happy to greet the Paris Peace Forum once again.  You are meeting as our world is confronting a host of existential threats. Conflicts are raging.  Our planet is burning.  The Sustainable Development Goals are slipping out of reach.  Divides — between North and South, East and West —— are deepening, and the risk of a great fracture is looming.

The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) has taken immediate and robust action in response to reports of serious misconduct by UN peacekeepers. Those reports follow a series of measures that the Mission has proactively initiated across its areas of deployment to ensure compliance with United Nations values and standards of conduct.
