MINUGUA (January - May 1997)

The United Nations Verification Mission in Guatemala -- the peacekeeping mission within the larger civilian and humanitarian MINUGUA mission -- was established in January 1997 to verify the Agreement on the Definitive Ceasefire between the Government of Guatemala and the Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca
